Last week in our blog we smashed out our guide to thinking simple. Unfortunately, the other half of our motto did not take very kindly to being left out. In fact, it sat there pouting until we promised we would dedicate a whole other blog post to thinking differently.

At OutdoorCure we are big believers in thinking differently, and will share many more thoughts and ideas in our future posts here on the blog. Sometimes the ‘Think different’ half of our motto gets a bit of a negative reception, but we are here to help you embrace it and restore its reputation to its full glory. Thinking differently does not have to be hard work. A few small changes can make a big difference and once you notice those, you will have the confidence to grab your ‘Think different’ mindset with pride and run down the road naked with it leaping over anything that gets in your way*.

To restore equilibrium to our OutdoorCure motto, here are our 7 top tips to thinking differently:

  • Ask more questions and embrace your curious side. By the time we reach adulthood we tend to stop asking as many questions. The more questions we ask the more we learn and grow, and in this growth, we can see, feel and think about things differently.
  • Don’t be afraid to explore and try new things out. If you find you are existing in a ‘well I know what I like and I’m not changing’ mindset give it a go. Try something new and pay attention to how it makes you feel.
  • Break out of your ‘routine’. If you walk to work, walk a different way and see what you notice. When we do things day in, day out, we become almost immune to them. Mixing things up once in a while really does help us to think differently.
  • Pay attention to the negative cycles you are in. Sometimes we do things over and over again, following the same pattern even if it hurts us or causes us additional stress. Sometimes we don’t even know we are doing it! Then we wonder why we are never progressing in a certain area. If you notice a negative cycle, take time to think about what you can do differently.
  • Take time to get to know you and who you are. An increased self-awareness naturally promotes thinking differently, rather than sticking to what we know/like/usually do, we have the confidence to try something different that is more congruent with who we are.
  • If a motto, mantra or quote inspires you to make a change, do something a little bit different or break away from the norm, treasure it and return to it whenever you start to feel a bit stuck. Let it inspire you to do things differently.
  • Finally, don’t be afraid of change. Without it we can not grow and move forward. We know its scary but if you are not happy with where you are in life you can take steps to break out of it and do things differently.
